Business Intelligence Solution for Retail Business
The Client
The client is a large retail business group and has many stores all over the world. Their stores are in different areas and account using different languages and currencies. There is an ERP system helps the client to process their business.
What the Client Wanted
The ERP system generates large amount of trading data every day. The data comes to a central database in different currency format.
The management board needs reports and analysis based on the trading data so that they can know the instant business data and trend and make the right decision. Before the BI solution was designed and developed, the client has some staff to make the reports every month manually in a low efficiency and accuracy.
The client hopes a system can show them all the business data timely and accurately. Based on the different rules and logics, they can have flexible and powerful reports, for example, sale report based on regions, product category reports and KPIs.
The Solution
Our SharePoint experts and the client designed a solution based on SharePoint BI capabilities.
The main features are as follows:
Business Data Import and Process: a Windows Service was designed to import and process business data from the ERP system into a SQL server database every day.
Reports: web parts to be used for the client to access all reports from web browser. Reports like sales analyses, profit loss, balance sheet reports grouped by area and time period are generated based different business rules. These reports can be opened using Excel directly or exported to other file formats.
Dash Boards: KPI (Key Performance Indicator) are defined and developed. Store sales, store cost % report, sales profit centers sales & profit trends are showing in dashboard.
